We are 2 days into the clean up. Yesterday, the crew filled up a 20 yard bin with debris. 1 square yard = 3 feet X 3 feet square so the bin holds 180 cubic feet of material. That was filled up by noon yesterday so today they brought in a 40 yard box with a 360 cubic foot capacity.
I went by after 5PM and it was full. There was another smaller bin on the property for metal objects.
Looking around the property, it seems to me that it will take 2 more 40 yard bins to clean out the debris. This is not counting the hazardous waste, rubber, metal and items you can't dump. Each of these will need their own bin or will need to be sorted separately at the dump.
So, by my estimate we have 140 yards of debris or 1,260 cubic feet plus another 20 yards of items that require special handling. Based on the progress today, it appears this will be cleaned out by end of the week or into the first part of next week.
This doesn't include the demolition of the interior and the material that will need to be hauled away for that. I would guess that is another 80 yards of debris from the demolition over the course of 2 weeks.
So in all, I'm predicting we'l use five 40 yard bins, three 20 yard bins and a few special runs for hazards totaling 2,400 cubic feet.
